<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This dataset represents Florida panther (Puma concolor coryi) radio-telemetry data collected February 1981-January 2026. These data were collected by three entities: Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Everglades National Park (ENP), and Big Cypress National Preserve (BCNP). Methodology for the collection of telemetry locations was described by Land et al. (2008). Many of these panther locations were collected during the diurnal resting period (i.e., during early to mid-morning [Comiskey et al., 2002; Beier et al., 2003]).</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>

QAQC not completed. All attribute values fall within defined parameters. The 'Habitat' field was completed using two different land use/land cover classification schemes depending on the agency tracking panthers on a given day. In all, the different schemata combined with typing errors led to >75 categories, many of which had overlapping characteristics.
Spatial accuracy of telemetry data has been estimated to be within 124 m (Land et al 2008).
Converted Time field to "text" to correct the wrong date times. Transferred metadata and uploaded to data library.
Contributed to the spatial and attribute content of the dataset.

Received panther telemetry database from Panther Team, containing a cumulative table of spatial coordinates of telemetry locations since Feb 1981, as well as associated attributes. Flights for each radio-collared panther were conducted aerially, 3 times a week. Panthers that were unable to be located were occasionally noted in the dataset. These null locations were removed before the table was converted to a shapefile, with the Florida Modified Albers projection.

Received telemetry spreadsheet ranging from Feb 1981 to January 2025. Removed "Habitat" and "Activity" fields. Took entire spreadsheet and used UTM coordinates and XY tool to plot points based on Zone 17 of the UTM. Reprojected to Albers. Updated Metadata.

This field consists of sequentially-numbered Florida panthers that were captured for radiotelemetry studies. The FWC updates this information in Appendix 1 of its, "Annual Report on the Research and Management of Florida Panthers." This data set also includes locations of 8 female Texas cougars that were released into the Florida panther population in 1995 as part of Florida Panther Genetic Restoration.
