<abstract>This dataset provides locations of publicly reported coyote incidents in Florida. The data are collected by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Division of Habitat Species to aid in its management of imperiled species. </abstract>
<purpose>These data are available for anyone who is interested in the locations of coyote incidents in the state of Florida.</purpose>
<supplinf>Acknowledgement of the FWC-HSC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission-Habitat and Species Conservation Division) as the data source would be appreciated in any products developed from these data, and such acknowledgment as is standard for citation and legal practices for data source is expected by users of this data. Please cite the original metadata when using portions of the record to create a similar record of slightly altered data, such as reprojection. If any data are modified or adjusted, please share the edited information with FWC. <procdesc>Staff records call locations in the WIMS database as street addresses or locations on map for each record, when available. WIMS automatically provides the geographic coordinates for the call locations, which were then exported into Microsoft Excel as a spreadsheet. Spreadsheet data were imported into ESRI ArcMap 10.4.1 as an XY event and converted into a point shapefile. Points were visually inspected for consistency and questionable records were individually examined and either corrected or removed as appropriate. </procdesc>
