Description: These data represent reported locations of fish kills to the FWC Fish Kill Hotline over the past 10 years that are within the DEP Waterbody Water Quality Dashboard Boundary.NOTE: The above summaries are distributed by the Fish and Wildlife Health group (FWH) at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Fish and Wildlife Research Institute. The summaries account for fish and wildlife health-related communications received by FWH via the statewide Marine Fish Kill Hotline (1-800-636-0511), through website reports submitted to the FWRI fish kill web page https://public.myfwc.com/FWRI/FishKillReport/Submit.aspx, or direct phone/email contact during the specified period. The summary is intended to provide a timely source of information regarding fish and wildlife health events to Florida agency individuals who are responsible for response and facilitate communication among these individuals in order to direct response activity and appropriately address associated public concern. When a report is noted that is has been “referred to” another agency or group, it indicates that FWH staff forwarded the information, but does not signify that they will conduct an investigation. While every practical step has been taken to make the above summary accurate and informative, the need for rapid distribution precludes extensive review. The map locations identify only a general area and do not indicate the exact location of the fish kill. Reports are summarized as they are made to FWH staff with limited interpretation and do not necessarily reflect the observations of scientifically trained individuals. Unless otherwise specified, FWH has not verified any of the above accounts through direct observation. Questions, corrections, and requests regarding the above summary should be made to the original sender.
